ON THE GO FOODS
Whether foodservice or packaged items, convenience stores have become a go-to destination for busy consumers who need a little something while they're on the road. With busy schedules, people eat when they have the opportunity, so on-the-go snacking is here to stay and will continue to grow.
Consumers are looking for quality products, convenient packaging, portability and especially value. Though nutrition is a consideration for some c-store consumers, it's generally not as important in the purchase decision-making process as convenience when it comes to grab-and-go foods.
In packaged grab-and-go items, Oscar Mayer Lunchables and Kraft single serve string cheese generate a significant amount of revenue. Consumers generally look for great-tasting products from trusted brands to instantly satisfy their hunger or craving. Typically, the consumer is usually eating while doing something else--such as driving or working at their desk. Portability is an important consideration.
Kraft has continued with their line of packaged foods with the addition of Snack Combos which contain crackers, meat bites (sausage or peppered sausage) and cheese. The snack combos are packaged in a plastic tray with compartments similar to their Oscar Mayer Lunchables.
